Manuka Honey
Hails from the great nation of New Zealand. It is a product of the tea tree bush (leptospernum plant) that grows mostly on the coast. Usually referred to as medical grade honey the antibacterial qualities of this honey are widely recognized. Recent studies indicate that it has more healing properties than antibiotics. UMF refers to the Unique Manuka Factor which is a the presence of this additional antibacterial component not found in other honeys. The rating system is to help the consumer know how high the antibacterial activity is in the honey. To use the honey for medicinal purposes, look for a UMF 10 as the minimum.
Manuka honey has all natural antibacterial, antimicrobial, antiseptic, anti viral, antioxidant, anti-inflammatory and anti fungal properties making it ideal for treating a number of different ailments.
